Is it normal for McDonald’s in Australia to upset stomachs? My brother is visiting from the US, and his entire family ended up with diarrhea after lunch there yesterday. I ate the same meals as them and didn’t have any issues. He usually eats McDonald’s back home, so we’re wondering if the recipes here might be different and causing the problem.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Edit: Just to clarify, it was in Sydney CBD, not Engadine! 😂

  1. It’s not super common, but it can happen to some people when they eat at fast food places like Maccas, especially if they’re not used to the menu or ingredients in Australia. Different cooking oils, food prep practices, or even just the variations in recipes can sometimes lead to stomach issues. Since your brother’s family is accustomed to Maccas in the US, it’s possible that something in the Australian version didn’t sit well with them, or they may have had a sensitivity to something they ate.

It might also be just one of those things—sometimes people have a reaction to a specific meal, even if others are fine. If anyone else has had a similar experience, sharing their thoughts might help identify if there’s a pattern or if it was just bad luck! Hope your brother’s family feels better soon!
