From Muscle Cars to Adventure Vehicles: My Transition to a New Camping Rig
For years, I’ve been passionate about muscle cars, a fascination that has guided much of my automotive journey. Over time, I’ve owned several iconic vehicles, including three second-generation F-bodies—two Camaros and a Pontiac Trans Am—along with a 2018 Mustang GT and a 2003 Holden Monaro. Each of these cars has contributed to my automotive storytelling, embodying power, style, and driving enjoyment.
Recently, however, I experienced a shift in perspective while camping with my dog. During that trip, I realized that my latest Camaro—equipped with a roller cam 350 engine and a Richmond five-speed manual transmission—had a surprising amount of cargo space. While this was initially a benefit, I began to see it as a sign that my vehicle had become more practical than exhilarating for my outdoor adventures.
This insight led me to make a significant change. Understanding the need for a vehicle better suited to camping and outdoor excursions, I decided to part ways with my muscle car and invest in a dedicated camping rig. While I cherish my past vehicles, I’m now excited to embrace a new chapter—one focused on exploration, adventure, and making the most of the great outdoors.
This transition underscores an important aspect of automotive passion: sometimes, practicality and a sense of adventure can redefine what we seek from our vehicles, paving the way for new experiences and memories.
