The desire to explore new horizons is a trait many Australians share, and the trend of living abroad continues to grow among those seeking fresh opportunities and new experiences. Having recently come across discussions on platforms like Reddit’s r/Ireland community, I found myself inspired to pose a similar question to a broader audience: Where are fellow Australians living overseas, and what has their experience been like?
Reflecting on my own journey, I spent several formative years traveling and living overseas in my twenties. Those experiences were profoundly enriching, offering a sense of adventure and cultural immersion that I cherish to this day. Now, back in Australia for over seven years, I find myself increasingly drawn to the idea of returning abroad—this time, with a clearer mind and a handful of questions about the realities of expatriate life.
I am currently 34 years old, navigating a balance between age and opportunity. With a European passport in hand, I have the flexibility to settle in any EU country, although my language skills are primarily in English. Alternatively, a two-year visa option to Canada is also appealing, promising new cultural landscapes and personal growth.
