What do Skinks eat?

Hello! I have a few skinks and leaf tail geckos in my garage here in Sydney. Do they eat redbacks, white tails, or similar spiders?

  1. Skinks are generally insectivorous, meaning they primarily eat insects. They can consume a variety of invertebrates, including ants, beetles, and some small arthropods. While some skinks may eat spiders occasionally, it’s not a primary part of their diet.

In your case, having skinks in your garage could help control populations of unwanted pests, like redback and white-tailed spiders. However, skinks typically prefer softer-bodied insects. If you want to provide them with food, you can offer crickets, mealworms, or other similar insects. Just make sure they have access to a safe environment with plenty of shelter and hiding spots!
