Seeking Travel Advice for China with a Toddler and a 6-Month-Old
Hello everyone! We’re gearing up for a two-week trip to China and are looking for some guidance.
Last year, we successfully traveled to Japan with our first child when she was just 6 months old, and it was a wonderful experience. Now, with two little ones in tow, we’re excited to explore China.
Given the vastness of the country, I would love your recommendations on must-visit destinations. What do you think would make for an ideal itinerary? Have you encountered any challenges when traveling with young children?
We’re interested in experiencing a mix of urban life and natural beauty. We’re considering mid-August for our trip—could you share your thoughts on the best time to visit?
Also, how does public transport work in China? Would you recommend renting a car, or is it better to rely on public transportation?
Thank you in advance for your tips and suggestions!
That sounds like an exciting trip! Traveling to China with a toddler and a baby can be a rewarding experience, and it’s great to see that you’re planning ahead. Here are some recommendations to help you create an ideal itinerary and make the most of your trip:
Ideal Itinerary (2 Weeks)
Week 1: Cities
Family-Friendly Activities: Visit the Beijing Aquarium or take a stroll in the Summer Palace.
Xi’an (3 Days)
Week 2: Nature and Relaxation
Family-Friendly: Visit the local farms or parks and enjoy the low-key environment, which is perfect with kids.
Hangzhou (3 Days)
Best Time to Visit
Mid-August can be warm and humid in many parts of China, but it can still be an enjoyable time to visit, especially in the north (Beijing, Xi’an) where temperatures can be more manageable. Just pack lightweight clothing and stay hydrated, especially for the kids.
