NSW/QLD??
Hey everyone! I’m a Kiwi/Aussie citizen who has never actually lived in Australia. I grew up in New Zealand and moved to London last year, but it hasn’t been a great experience for me—I really just want to come back home. The cost of living in NZ is rising, and the wages aren’t great, so my family and friends are encouraging me to consider Australia.
My boyfriend, a science lab technician, will be joining me in October. We’re on the lookout for a coastal town since being close to the beach is a must for us. We’d like to find a 1- or 2-bedroom house or unit that won’t break the bank. While we know cities will offer more job opportunities for him, they’re also quite pricey, so he’s open to doing fruit picking for a bit to get by. I have a BA but have mostly worked in unskilled hospitality jobs since finishing university. I’m hoping to find a 9-5 job in admin or something office-related.
We love nature and art, and having a farmer’s market nearby would be a huge plus! I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have. My parents, who live in Gladstone, recommended Coffs Harbour, but I’ve read mixed reviews online about safety and issues with crime and poverty there.

While Coffs Harbour has varying opinions, many people love living there for the beaches and community, so don’t completely rule it out!
