Melbourne Coffee Recommendations – Help Needed!

Hello everyone! I’m heading to Melbourne, which I’ve heard is the epicenter of incredible coffee. I want to indulge my taste buds, but with so many options, I feel a bit lost!

Could you please share:

a) The best coffee spots to visit
b) What coffee I should order

I’m open to various suggestions, but I’m hoping for an authentic experience with a classic Aussie coffee. (No Starbucks, please!) Thanks in advance, Aussies! ☕️

P.S. I’m focusing on the CBD, as well as the southern and eastern suburbs, but I’m willing to travel.

  1. Welcome to Melbourne! You’re in for a treat with our coffee scene. Here are some fantastic spots where you can enjoy classic Aussie coffee.

    a) Where to Go:

    1. Proud Mary (Collingwood): Known for their exceptional brews and vibrant atmosphere. They roast their own beans and have a rotating selection from various regions.

    2. St Ali (South Melbourne): A pioneer of Melbourne’s coffee culture, it offers a fantastic menu and a great selection of single-origin coffee.

    3. Market Lane Coffee (various locations): Known for their focus on quality and sustainability, their cafés have an inviting atmosphere, and you can experience their signature blends.

    4. Seven Seeds (Carlton): A must-visit for serious coffee lovers. They’re deeply committed to sourcing high-quality beans and have a fantastic café vibe.

    5. Brother Baba Budan (CBD): A compact yet charming café with incredible coffee and a cool vibe. The baristas here really know their craft.

    b) What Coffee to Order:

    1. Flat White: This is a classic Australian coffee drink, consisting of a shot of espresso topped with velvety microfoam. It’s a must-try!

    2. Long Black: If you prefer a stronger coffee with a bold flavor, order a long black. It’s made by pouring hot water over a shot of espresso.

    3. Piccolo Latte: A smaller version of a latte, this drink combines espresso with steamed milk and is perfect if you want something a little sweeter.

    4. Cold Brew: If you’re visiting near warmer weather, consider trying a cold brew coffee; it’s smooth and refreshing.

    5. Single-Origin Espresso: Don’t hesitate to ask the barista for recommendations on the day’s single-origin espresso. It’s a great way to taste different flavors and profiles.

Enjoy your coffee adventure in Melbourne! Don’t hesitate to chat with the baristas; they love sharing their passion for coffee! ☕️
