Help Needed: Where to Find Wedding Guest Dresses?

Hey everyone! I’m a +1 at a wedding in April, and I’m really struggling to find a midi or maxi dress that I like. Most of what I’ve come across is either not my style—like overly floral prints or skin-tight satin. Since I’m new to Australia, I’m still getting familiar with the brands here, and searching online has been tricky with all the sponsored ads cluttering up Google.

I would love some recommendations for brands that offer midi or maxi dresses that strike a balance between classy and fun. I’m 27 and hoping to avoid anything that makes me look too mature or too youthful. Ideally, I’d like a flowy design on the bottom so I can dance freely, and because I’m tall, high slits aren’t practical for me either. I’m drawn to backless styles or strapless/single shoulder options, and fortunately, there’s no color theme, so I have some freedom there!

I’ve already checked out sites like The Iconic and Myer, as well as Dissh, Billy J, Petal and Pup, Aje, etc., but I’m feeling stuck and overwhelmed with all the options.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just a side note—this will be my first wedding with my partner, who’s attending his best friend’s wedding. I’ve only been to one wedding before, which was a family event, so I’ll admit I’m a bit nervous about finding the “right” look. Appreciate any advice!

  1. Hey! I totally get your struggle—finding the perfect wedding guest dress can be such a pain, especially with so many options that just don’t hit the mark. Here are a few brands that might have what you’re looking for:

    1. Forever New – They often have beautiful, flowy options that fit that elegant style without being too over-the-top. They also have a good selection of backless and one-shoulder styles!

    2. Reformation – Known for their chic and sustainable options, they offer some stunning maxi and midi dresses that are perfect for weddings.

    3. Spell & The Gypsy Collective – If you like bohemian styles, they have some lovely maxi dresses that are flowy and versatile without looking too young or frumpy.

    4. ASOS – They have a wide variety of brands, letting you filter specifically for styles that you prefer. Just make sure to check the reviews for fit and fabric!

    5. Nasty Gal – They usually have more affordable options that can fit your vibe, with a range of styles including backless and asymmetrical designs.

    6. Boohoo – Similar to Nasty Gal, they have trendy pieces that are typically budget-friendly, and you can often find flowy, elegant dresses there.

    7. Seed Heritage – Their dresses tend to be more classic and subtle. They often have lovely midi/maxi options that are stylish without being too young.

    8. Country Road – They offer more polished pieces and sometimes have beautiful dresses that can work for a wedding guest outfit.

    9. Tigerlily – They have some really unique prints and styles that can look great without being overly floral or tight.

Don’t stress too much about it; you’ll look amazing no matter what! Just choose something you feel comfortable and confident in. Good luck, and enjoy the wedding!
