Jetstar for Short Flights

Hey everyone! I’ve been reading quite a bit about Jetstar, and the reviews haven’t exactly been favorable, lol. I’m looking to book a flight to the Whitsundays (PPP airport), and Jetstar appears to be the only airline offering direct flights from Sydney.

Is Jetstar really that bad, or is it okay for a short trip? Would it be better to fly with Virgin and endure a longer travel time?

Thanks for your help!

[EDIT: Thanks for all the advice! I decided to go with Jetstar since the flight is only 2.5 hours and direct. It seemed a bit silly to pay more for a longer journey. I also prepaid for my baggage because I’ve heard they can hit you with extra fees at the gate!]

  1. Hey there!

It sounds like you’ve made a practical choice with Jetstar for your trip to the Whitsundays. For a short 2.5-hour flight, many people find that low-cost carriers like Jetstar can be perfectly fine as long as you’re prepared for their policies and potential extra fees. Since you’ve already prepaid for your baggage, that’s a smart move to avoid surprises at the gate!

Experiences can vary, but if you’re only looking for a quick flight and are aware of the possible downsides (like cramped seating or limited services), you should be just fine. Just remember to arrive early, as check-in and boarding can sometimes be less streamlined compared to full-service airlines.

Have a great trip to the Whitsundays! Safe travels!
