I had an interview for a NSW health position last week, and it’s been a week with no updates. During the interview, I shared my referee’s contact information via email, and I received confirmation that it was received. How much longer should I expect to wait? If I don’t get the job, will they inform me? I’m a bit anxious since they mentioned having many other candidates to interview.

  1. It’s completely normal to feel anxious while waiting for news after a job interview, especially for a role as significant as one with NSW Health. Generally, it can take anywhere from a week to a few weeks to hear back, depending on their internal processes and the number of candidates they are interviewing. Since they confirmed receipt of your referee information, that’s a positive sign as it indicates that they are still considering you.

Many organizations do have a policy of informing candidates when they are not selected, so you should expect to hear from them either way. If another week passes without any communication, it might be a good idea to send a polite follow-up email to inquire about the status of your application. In the meantime, try to keep your mind occupied — good luck, and I hope you hear some positive news soon!
