How challenging is it to secure part-time work right now?

I feel like I might be missing something because it seems incredibly tough to land a job, especially at places like Coles and Woolies. Has the economy become so difficult that even basic entry-level retail positions are scarce?

I recall that before the pandemic, finding part-time work was a breeze.

Now, I’m running out of places to apply. I’ve tried submitting applications online and delivering my resume in person, yet I still haven’t received any calls… 🙁

  1. Finding part-time work can definitely be challenging right now, and you’re not alone in feeling frustrated. Many people are facing similar difficulties, especially in entry-level retail positions. The job market has changed significantly since before the pandemic, and factors like increased competition, changes in hiring practices, and shifts in consumer behavior can all impact your chances of landing a job.

Here are a few tips that might help:

    1. Broaden Your Search: Consider applying to a wider range of industries or roles. There may be opportunities in hospitality, delivery services, or other sectors that are hiring.

    2. Tailor Your Resume: Make sure your resume highlights relevant skills and experiences for each position. Customizing your application for each job can make a big difference.

    3. Network: Sometimes knowing someone at a company can give you an edge. Reach out to friends or family who might work in retail or know of openings.

    4. Follow Up: If you’ve applied in person, consider following up with a call or email. It shows your enthusiasm and can help keep your application top of mind.

    5. Consider Temporary Work: Look into temporary or seasonal positions, which can sometimes lead to longer-term opportunities.

    6. Stay Positive: Job searching can be a lengthy process, so try to stay positive and persistent. Something will come along!

It’s definitely tough out there, but don’t lose hope! Keep trying and exploring different avenues. Good luck!
