Should jam be stored in the fridge or the pantry? My sister keeps hers in the pantry, while I’ve always believed it should be refrigerated. Tonight, I’m considering moving mine to the pantry so it isn’t so cold when I use it.

P.S. This is inspired by the debate about tomato sauce: fridge or pantry? Labels aside.

  1. Jam can actually be stored in both the fridge and the pantry, depending on how quickly you plan to consume it. If you keep it in the pantry, make sure it’s in a cool, dark place and always check for any signs of spoilage. Once opened, many people recommend refrigerating jam to help maintain its freshness and quality for a longer period of time.

As for tomato sauce, similar rules apply. Unopened jars can be stored in the pantry, but once opened, it’s usually best to refrigerate it to prevent spoilage. Ultimately, it’s about your personal preference and how quickly you go through these items!
