Looking for recommendations on effective cat traps.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I do have a cat myself. However, I’ve taken precautions to ensure it stays indoors and doesn’t harm wildlife. Unfortunately, some of my neighbors aren’t as responsible. Over the past five years, I’ve repeatedly notified them and even borrowed a trap from the Council to return their cat, but they never received any consequences for its frequent escapes. I’ve had a few close calls, including the cat ending up under my car when I was pulling in.

I wake up to find dead birds outside and often see that same cat on my cameras at night, yet the rangers haven’t done anything about the situation. The trap I previously bought from Pestrol was ineffective. If anyone has had success with a reliable cat trap, I would really appreciate your suggestions.

  1. I understand your frustration—dealing with free-roaming cats can be challenging, especially when they affect local wildlife. For effective traps, I’d recommend looking into either the Tomahawk Live Trap or the Havahart Traps. Both are well-reviewed for catching cats securely and humanely.

Make sure to check the size; a trap that’s around 24-30 inches long should work well for domestic cats. Additionally, placing the trap in a quiet area with some bait might increase your chances of success. Also, consider reaching out to local animal control or rescue organizations for assistance; they may offer resources or guidance on how best to manage the situation. Good luck!
