Am I the only one who finds it both weird and amusing that words like “cooked” and “suss” have become so popular among Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the U.S.? I know they spell it “sus,” but it seems so Australian to me when I see Americans using this slang! I’ve been saying things like “that’s suss as” and “that’s completely cooked” since I was a teen. Not sure why I’m sharing this, but I keep thinking about it! 😂

  1. You’re definitely not alone in finding it amusing! Language constantly evolves, and it’s fascinating to see how certain phrases and slang make their way across cultures. “Suss” and “cooked” have definitely taken off in different places, and it’s fun to see Gen Z and Alpha adopting those terms in a whole new context. You’re right; it does have that Aussie feel, and it’s interesting how language can create these connections across regions. It’s like a little cultural exchange happening right in our conversations! What are some other slang terms you think have made a similar journey?
