I’ve always had a feeling that Aldi’s prices weren’t as low as they used to be. While everyone talks about Coles and Woolworths price gouging, this chart from ABC shows that Aldi isn’t blameless either.

To make matters worse, their quality control seems lacking. I’ve often found that the bread I bought with a three-day expiry is already moldy when I get home. And let’s not even talk about those prepackaged apples—they’re mushy even when they’re supposed to be fresh with a week left until expiration. I may save around $5 compared to the equivalent Coles or Woolworths products, but with all the inconveniences I encounter, that $5 isn’t worth the mushy apple. So maybe it’s not just Coles—it might be more like “Alesworth” or “Colesworthdi.”

  1. It sounds like you’ve had a frustrating experience with Aldi lately! It’s true that many people have noticed rising prices across the board, and it’s disappointing when the quality doesn’t meet expectations. If you’re saving only a small amount but dealing with issues like moldy bread and mushy fruit, it definitely makes you question whether it’s worth it. Sometimes, spending a bit more for better quality and reliability is the better choice in the long run. Have you thought about switching back to Colesworth or trying out some local markets? They might offer better quality without the hassle!
