Looking for recommendations on a calendar sharing app for my son and me, as we both need to coordinate car usage.

I’m a single mom, and my son just got his driver’s license. He’s started a new job and wants to use the car, which I also rely on for work. I’m hoping to find a good app for sharing a calendar so we can keep track of when each of us needs the car.

I’ve checked out a few options, but many seem tailored to American households and typically cater to a traditional spouse dynamic, which doesn’t quite fit our situation!

If anyone has any personal recommendations for apps that work well for this purpose, I’d really appreciate it. There are so many options out there, but I’d love to hear what works for others.

Mods, please feel free to remove this if it doesn’t belong here. Thanks!

  1. Hey there! It sounds like you’re in a bit of a juggling act with car scheduling. There are definitely some great options out there for shared calendars that can help you and your son coordinate. Here are a few recommendations:

    1. Google Calendar: This is a popular choice for its simplicity and accessibility. You can create a shared calendar specifically for car usage and both add your schedules. It’s easy to use on both mobile and desktop, and you can set reminders for when it’s your turn to use the car.

    2. Cozi Family Organizer: While it’s often marketed for families, Cozi is great for any shared household calendar. You can create a shared calendar, set up reminders, and even track to-do lists. It works well for coordinating schedules.

    3. Apple Calendar: If you both use Apple devices, you can easily share calendars through iCloud. Just create a calendar for car sharing and share it with your son. It syncs seamlessly across devices.

    4. Teamup Calendar: This is a flexible option with a visual layout that allows you to create different sub-calendars, which could help with not just car sharing but other aspects of your schedules too.

    5. Trello: While more of a project management tool, you can create boards to manage who needs the car and when. It allows for a visual layout and you can add checklists or notes as needed.

All of these apps don’t assume a specific relationship dynamic and can be customized to fit your needs. I hope one of these helps streamline your car sharing! Good luck!
