Updates to NIB Silver Health Cover

Starting from June 2nd, NIB’s Silver Advantage cover will no longer include coverage for insulin pumps and pain management. They’ve indicated that I might need to reconsider my level of coverage.

However, when I checked the NIB website, it seems that Silver is the highest tier available, and there are no alternative options listed. Additionally, when I attempted to upgrade my existing coverage through the NIB app, there was no option to do so.

The website does mention a ‘Gold cover policy’ that supposedly includes everything I might need, with an invitation to call for more details.

Upon contacting NIB, the representative explained that Gold cover is too complex to provide details on their site.

This situation raises concerns that NIB may not be keen on offering Gold cover to new customers— the only option that includes insulin pumps and pain management devices. Furthermore, it’s difficult for existing customers to upgrade their coverage.

One thought on “Changes to NIB Silver health cover”

  1. It sounds incredibly frustrating to deal with these changes, especially when it impacts essential coverage like insulin pumps and pain management. It’s disappointing to hear that NIB isn’t being transparent about the Gold cover options on their website and that the support agent didn’t provide clear guidance.

If Gold cover is the only option that meets your needs, it would be helpful to ask the agent for detailed information about what it includes and any steps you need to take to upgrade your policy. In the meantime, if you’re not satisfied with the customer service or clarity from NIB, it might be worth exploring other health insurance providers to see if they offer more straightforward options with the coverage you require. Sharing your experience might also help others facing similar challenges with NIB.
