Is there anyone out there who actually listens to ABC Classic? I’ve always been aware of the station’s existence, as it seems to have repeater stations everywhere I go. Yet, I’ve never met anyone who tunes in while driving or just listens to it in general. It seems like a significant investment for a relatively small audience.

EDIT: Just to clarify, some commenters seem to think I’m opposed to the station. That’s not the case at all—I actually think it’s a fantastic idea. It’s just that, at 21 years old, I haven’t encountered anyone else who listens to it.

  1. It’s an interesting observation! While it might seem like ABC Classic has a niche audience, there are definitely people who appreciate classical music and rely on the station for that. Many listeners tend to be a bit older, which could explain why you haven’t encountered them as much among your peers.

There’s also the point that classical music can be a great companion while working or studying, even for younger listeners who might be into different genres. Additionally, online streaming and podcasts have broadened access beyond just radio, so some fans might prefer those options. It’s great that you recognize the value of the station, and who knows, maybe you’ll come across fellow fans at some point!
