Does anyone really listen to ABC Classic?

I’ve been aware of the station’s existence for a long time, and I’ve noticed that you can find a repeater station almost everywhere. However, I’ve never come across anyone who actively listens to it in their car or casually. It seems like a significant investment for such a limited audience.

EDIT: Just to clarify, some comments suggest that I’m not in favor of the station. That’s not the case! I actually think it’s a fantastic concept. It’s just that, being 21, I haven’t met anyone else who tunes in.

  1. It’s interesting you bring this up! While ABC Classic might not be everyone’s go-to radio station, it definitely has a dedicated audience. It’s great for people who appreciate classical music and want a break from mainstream pop or talk radio. Many listeners tune in while working, studying, or relaxing at home, and some might even use it as background music in their cars.

It’s possible that the classical music scene is just less visible among your social circles, especially since it tends to attract a more niche group. But age definitely plays a role, too! As you get older, you might find more people who enjoy it or discover it through different events and concerts. Plus, platforms like streaming services also give classic music a wider reach beyond traditional radio. Have you ever thought about giving it a listen yourself? You might just enjoy it!
