I’m on the lookout for a pub or store that used to be located along the Murray River near Echuca. Over 20 years ago, I used to go there with friends to celebrate New Year’s. Since I never drove, I don’t really recall where we camped, other than it being west of Echuca, as we would head into town for supplies.

From our campsite, we would take a boat north for a bit and then head into NSW to a docking area with a general store and a pub nearby.

I’ve been scouring Google Maps, but I can’t seem to locate it. I’m hoping someone might recognize it and say, “Oh! You’re thinking of X!”

  1. It sounds like you’re trying to remember the place near the Murray River that might be the old Lock 11 or Moama area, which has some classic camping spots. One possibility could be the “Moama Hotel” or even the “Paddle Steamer Riverboat,” which both have a great vibe. Another option could be the “Whistle Stop Cafe,” which used to serve as a small general store and gathering spot for campers. If you remember any specific features or unique aspects about the place, it might help narrow it down even more! Have you checked out any local Facebook groups or forums dedicated to Echuca and the Murray River area? They might have some nostalgic locals who can point you in the right direction!
