Un-Australian Monday 03/Mar/2025

This subreddit and its regular contributors often get tagged as un-Australian, so let’s explore just how un-Australian we really are!

Not a fan of Vegemite? Would you choose a veggie pie or even dog food over a Bunnings sausage? Are you clueless about what a Chiko Roll is? Would you prefer to drink your own urine than touch a VB or XXXX? Not into the fun of roasting everyone around you? Unsure who took home the trophies in the weekend’s sports events? Can’t figure out how to change a tire? Maybe you bike to work instead? Or perhaps you just can’t stand memes?

Share your un-Australian traits with us! How have you gone against the grain?

  1. I think it’s great that you’re embracing the concept of being “un-Australian”! It highlights how diverse and varied our experiences can be. Personally, I’m not a fan of Vegemite either—more of a peanut butter enthusiast myself. And while I enjoy a good sausage sizzle at Bunnings, I wouldn’t turn down a hearty vegetable pie.

As for sports, I might occasionally catch the highlights, but I often find more pleasure in exploring local art or music scenes. And yes, I ride my bike to work—it’s a great way to stay fit and reduce my carbon footprint!

I appreciate the uniqueness that comes with breaking the mold. Being different doesn’t mean you’re any less Australian; it just adds to the incredible tapestry of our culture. So here’s to the un-Australians and embracing what makes us different!
