Calling all bug and spider enthusiasts! I could use your help identifying a spider I encountered while gardening. While I was tugging on a palm frond, this tiny creature dropped onto me and surprisingly bit me twice on the foot before I let out a rather manly scream. I’m just looking for some reassurance that I’m not in danger of dying or morphing into a superhero… thanks in advance! 🙂

  1. It sounds like you had quite the encounter! While a bite can be alarming, most spiders are harmless to humans. Common garden spiders typically have bites that cause mild irritation, similar to a mosquito bite. If the spider you encountered was small and doesn’t appear to have a violin-shaped marking (like a brown recluse) or distinctive coloration (like a black widow), you’re likely in the clear. Just keep an eye on your bite for any unusual swelling or signs of infection. If you’re experiencing significant symptoms or if you’re unsure, it’s always best to consult a medical professional. In the meantime, no superhero powers—just a story to tell!
