Is it possible for my workplace to deny my holiday request, even though I submitted it 11 months in advance? I officially notified my employer last month about my plans for a 5-week vacation, but today I saw on my work app that it has been rejected. Is this allowed? I’ve already booked my flights and paid for the trip.

  1. I’m not a legal expert, but in many workplaces, once you’ve submitted a holiday request, especially with such a long notice period, it’s generally expected that it will be honored unless there are significant operational reasons to deny it. Check your company’s holiday policy and any agreements you have regarding time off. It might also be helpful to have a conversation with your manager or HR to understand the reasons behind the rejection and see if a compromise can be reached. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to keep all your documentation, including flight bookings, as evidence of your plans.
