A Request for Respectful Conduct from American Visitors
Over the past two weeks, there has been a noticeable increase in American tourists and expatriates visiting our community. While many visitors are respectful and considerate, I have encountered several individuals whose behavior and conversations have been concerning.
During casual work interactions and social encounters, some Americans have initiated discussions centered around political beliefs, often promoting controversial viewpoints. A few have proposed joining Telegram groups claiming to share “true news” outside mainstream media narratives, which I found questionable. More unsettling were instances where conversations suddenly shifted to express racist ideologies, anti-worker sentiments, and anti-LGBTQ+ views—without any provocation from my side.
As a visitor, I appreciate the cultural exchange and enjoy hosting individuals from abroad. However, I kindly ask that visitors respect local norms and sensitivities. Political discussions or sharing provocative viewpoints, especially those rooted in divisiveness or intolerance, can cause discomfort and undermine the hospitality extended to you.
Let’s strive for mutual respect and understanding during your visits. Respect for the local community’s values and a focus on positive, friendly interactions help foster a more welcoming environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
