Celebrating Australian Treats This Halloween: A Fond Memory and a Sweet New Tradition

Halloween is a time for fun, community, and often, a little bit of candy. For many, it’s also an opportunity to share favorite treats and create lasting memories. For myself, these traditions are deeply connected to my grandmother’s visits to Melbourne, where she would always return with a special selection of Australian chocolates, notably Violet Crumble and Tim Tams. These treats hold a special place in my heart and now inspire a new Halloween tradition that I am excited to share with my neighborhood children.

Growing up, I admired those who handed out full-sized candy bars during Halloween, elevating the experience from a simple gesture to something memorable for the kids. Recently, I discovered that Violet Crumble, a beloved Australian caramel-infused wafer chocolate, can be conveniently ordered online through platforms like Amazon. This discovery opened the door for me to introduce something uniquely Australian to my community—adding a touch of international sweetness to the holiday.

By offering these iconic treats this Halloween, I hope to share a piece of Australian culture and make the night special for local children. It’s a small way to honor my grandmother’s tradition and keep her memory alive through the simple joy of giving.

Looking ahead, I am also saving up for a trip to Australia, specifically to revisit the storied hometown of my grandmother in Melbourne. Exploring her roots and experiencing the local culture firsthand will be a meaningful journey, and I look forward to bringing back more Australian treasures to share with loved ones and the community.

This Halloween, as I distribute these special chocolates, I’ll be reminded of the importance of tradition, memory, and the joy of sharing a little international sweetness with others. It’s a heartfelt way to honor the past while creating new memories across borders.
