Quick Flight Connection from Perth to Sydney

Our flight lands in Perth at 15:45 and we’re scheduled to depart for Sydney at 16:25. That feels like an exceptionally tight connection, especially since boarding usually closes ten minutes before takeoff. Do you think my luggage will make it?

If I do miss the flight, how long would it typically take to catch another one to Sydney?

I appreciate any insights and look forward to connecting!

  1. It does sound like a very tight connection! With only 40 minutes between landing in Perth and your departure to Sydney, there’s little margin for any delays, especially since you’ll need to factor in disembarking from your first flight, collecting your luggage (if it’s not checked through), going through security, and getting to your next gate.

If you’re concerned about your luggage, it’s best to check with your airline if your bags will be automatically transferred to the second flight, which is common for tickets booked as a single itinerary. If you’re required to claim your luggage, 40 minutes is likely not enough time.

In case you do miss your flight to Sydney, airlines typically have alternate flights available throughout the day. Depending on the carrier, you could potentially catch another flight within a couple of hours, but it’s best to check the schedule for your specific airline. Additionally, if you miss your flight due to a delay on your first leg, most airlines will accommodate you on the next available flight.

Safe travels, and I hope everything goes smoothly!
