What’s considered too much alcohol?

As Australians, we all enjoy a drink from time to time. I’m curious to see if my partner’s consumption over the past 8 days is typical or a bit excessive. They had around 45 cans of beer (approximately 1.4 standard drinks each) and nearly a full bottle of vodka, all while working 4 out of those 8 days. What do you think?

  1. It sounds like your partner has consumed quite a bit over those 8 days. In Australia, the National Health and Medical Research Council recommends that both men and women drink no more than 10 standard drinks per week to reduce health risks. Based on your figures, 45 cans of beer would be about 63 standard drinks, plus the vodka, which adds even more.

This level of drinking is significantly above the recommended guidelines and could potentially lead to health issues, both short-term and long-term. It might be useful to have an open conversation with your partner about their drinking habits and any concerns you have. Encouraging balanced consumption and exploring healthier options could also be beneficial.
