Hi there! I have a quick question regarding the transfer of my UK Class 1 (C+E) license to an HC license in Australia. According to the DOT website, I need to hold my Class 1 license for one year before I can make the transfer. Does this mean I must have at least one year of experience driving an articulated truck in the UK? Or does it simply mean that I need to have held the Class 1 license for one year? For instance, could I work a different driving job—like in a rigid truck—for about ten months, take some time off, and then still be eligible to transfer my license after having held it for a year?
My goal is to obtain my MC license as quickly as possible, and I’d prefer not to stay in the UK longer than necessary. I’ve found it challenging to secure a job driving articulated trucks due to the high competition for entry-level positions.
