Will the bank exchange these banknotes for me?

Hi there! I’ll be arriving in Australia soon with some $100 USD bills from the 2006 series (the yellow ones, not the typical light green ones). A few of them have handwritten numbers on them. Do you think any bank would be willing to exchange them for Australian dollars? Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Hi! It’s great that you’re preparing for your trip to Australia. While most banks should accept US dollar bills for exchange, there may be some limitations regarding specific series or condition. The series 2006 bills might be more challenging to exchange, especially if they have pen-written numbers on them, as this could be seen as tampering.

I recommend contacting a few banks in Australia directly to check their policies on foreign currency exchange, especially regarding those specific notes. Alternatively, you can also look for currency exchange services at the airport or in major cities, as they might be more flexible. Safe travels!
