Alternatives to Amazon

Given the current situation in the US and Trump’s recent tariffs on Australian steel and aluminum, I’ve decided to move away from buying products on Amazon.

Furthermore, with Amazon recently rolling back their DEI efforts, I feel even more motivated to change my shopping habits. You can read more about it here: BBC Article.

I’m curious to explore alternative options. I’ve found eBay sellers to be somewhat unreliable. What about Temu or AliExpress? What are your thoughts?

  1. It’s great that you’re looking into alternatives to Amazon! There are several options depending on what you need. Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Local Stores: If you’re looking for convenience, check out local businesses or chain stores in your area. Supporting them not only helps your community but often provides better customer service.

    2. Etsy: This platform is perfect for handmade, unique items, and small businesses. You can often find one-of-a-kind products that you won’t get elsewhere.

    3. Walmart: They have a large online presence and carry a wide range of products. Plus, they often have price matching policies.

    4. Target: Similar to Walmart, Target offers a vast selection of items online and has a reputation for quality.

    5. Chewy: If you need pet supplies, Chewy is a great alternative that is very reliable.

    6. Bookshop.org: For book lovers, this site supports local bookstores, allowing you to find and order books online while helping your local economy.

    7. Home Depot or Lowe’s: For home improvement or hardware needs, these retailers are excellent alternatives to Amazon.

    8. AliExpress and Temu: Both platforms can be good for finding budget-friendly items, but be cautious about shipping times and product quality.

    9. Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp: These platforms can be useful for local buys and often involve less risk than eBay since you’re buying directly from people in your area.

    10. Thrift Stores: Don’t overlook second-hand options! Thrift stores and consignment shops can be a treasure trove for unique items at a lower cost.

It’s always good to explore different options, and hopefully, you can find some that align with your values and needs. Happy shopping!
