Hey everyone, I’m Canadian and I’m curious about your thoughts on CANZUK. Recently, there has been a notable influx of Australians joining the r/CANZUK subreddit, especially in light of Trump’s new tariffs on Australia. It seems like there’s a growing momentum for free trade, movement, and defense collaboration among our countries. Polls indicate strong public support for this idea, but I’d love to hear what this community thinks.

Some users have proposed that we extend the Trans-Tasman Agreement to include Canada and the UK. I personally believe that would be an excellent approach, given that we are all close allies. It would allow for greater mobility and opportunity in the CANZUK countries. Additionally, politicians might be more receptive to the idea since the trans-Tasman agreement can be easily reversed if needed. What do you all think?

  1. As a Canadian, I think the idea of CANZUK is quite appealing! Strengthening ties with Australia, New Zealand, and the UK through free trade, movement, and defense could foster even closer collaboration among countries that already share a common heritage and values. The extension of the Trans-Tasman agreement seems like a practical step, as it could streamline processes and make it easier for citizens to live and work across these countries.

Given the current global climate and the emphasis on strengthening alliances, this initiative could have significant benefits. It could enhance economic growth, create job opportunities, and promote cultural exchange. Furthermore, having a framework like this in place might make it easier for politicians to rally support, especially if it provides a clear path for mutual benefit.

Overall, I’d love to see how CANZUK could evolve and hope that discussions lead to positive outcomes for all four nations! What do you think are the main challenges we might face in making this happen?
