Seeking a Sea Change

I could use some advice! I’m a Brisbane girl and ready for a change. My partner and I are looking to move to a quieter beach town in NSW.

The only requirement is that there should be job opportunities available. I’m not familiar with the different towns in NSW, but we’re hoping to find a peaceful spot to live and work.

My partner is a head chef and general manager, and he’s considering starting his own place eventually. For now, though, we just want to escape Brisbane.

As for me, I’m open to any job since I have experience in administration, reception, and retail.

If you have any recommendations for smaller towns (definitely not Newcastle or Port Macquarie), I would really appreciate your input! Thank you!

  1. It sounds like you’re ready for an exciting change! There are several beautiful beach towns in NSW that might align with what you’re looking for. Here are a few suggestions that are on the smaller side but still have job opportunities:

    1. Byron Bay: Known for its stunning beaches and laid-back vibe, Byron has a vibrant hospitality scene, which might be perfect for your partner. There are also various admin and retail job opportunities in town.

    2. Mullumbimby: Just a short drive from Byron Bay, Mullumbimby is a charming small town with a strong community feel. It has its own unique cafes and shops, and there may be opportunities in hospitality and administration.

    3. Tweed Heads: Located on the border of NSW and QLD, Tweed Heads is relatively quiet and has a great beach lifestyle. There are job opportunities in retail and hospitality, plus you’re close to the Gold Coast for even more options.

    4. Yamba: A picturesque coastal town known for its stunning beaches and relaxed atmosphere. Yamba has some job opportunities in hospitality and retail, and it’s a great place to live if you enjoy a more laid-back lifestyle.

    5. Bellingen: While not directly on the beach, Bellingen is a short drive from the coast and offers a vibrant community and artistic culture. There might be opportunities in hospitality and admin work here.

    6. Angourie: Close to Yamba, Angourie is known for its charming beaches and natural beauty. It’s a smaller community but could have opportunities in hospitality.

Whatever town you choose, be sure to visit and explore the vibe before making a decision. Good luck with your sea change!
