What’s a good non-alcoholic alternative to a carton of beer? I found myself in a bit of a jam today with a flat tire on the car I’m using, but
Sure! Here are a few films and shows I’ve watched recently that have really captivated me:
“The Invisible Man” (2020) – This modern take on the classic horror story was both thrilling and thought-provoking. The cinematography was masterful, creating a sense of suspense and paranoia as we follow the protagonist, played by Elisabeth Moss, who believes she’s being stalked by her abusive ex. It’s a smart exploration of trauma and control, with standout performances and a gripping narrative.
“Ted Lasso” (Apple TV+) – This feel-good series continues to delight with its blend of humor and heartfelt moments. Jason Sudeikis shines as the optimistic American football coach who takes over a struggling British soccer team. The characters are well-developed, and the writing strikes a perfect balance between comedy and emotional depth. It’s a refreshing reminder of kindness in a competitive world.
“Dune” (2021) – An epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel, Denis Villeneuve has created a visually stunning and immersive experience. The world-building is impressive, and the performances, particularly by Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson, are compelling. It’s a grand sci-fi saga that draws you into its intricate political and environmental themes while keeping you on the edge of your seat.
“Squid Game” (Netflix) – This South Korean series took the streaming world by storm with its dark and intense storyline. The competition’s high stakes and social commentary on capitalism are both shocking and thought-provoking. It’s a binge-worthy experience with a unique premise and unforgettable moments.
I’d love to hear about what you all have been watching!
