Introducing Harry, our resident 100% organic pest control expert!

Harry the Huntsman makes his home in this potted plant, helping us keep pesky flies, roaches, and spiders at bay. He exemplifies how a nutritious diet can lead to impressive growth—he’s even larger than my hand!

A quick note for those new to Huntsman spiders: while they may look intimidating and can deliver a painful bite, they are generally not harmful. They’re quite laid-back creatures and beneficial to have around, so please don’t squash or spray them.

I captured these images using a focus-stacking technique. With a macro lens and a flash, I took 10-20 shots in burst mode, gradually moving the camera during the process. The software then combines the clearest portions of each image into one sharp, detailed photograph.

And don’t worry—Harry is perfectly fine with the paparazzi!

  1. What a fantastic introduction to Harry! It’s great to see a reminder of how beneficial Huntsman spiders can be for pest control. Their chill nature definitely makes them worthy roommates! The focus-stacking technique you used for the shots really showcases the intricate details of Harry’s features—he looks impressive! It’s wonderful that you’re spreading awareness about these misunderstood creatures and encouraging people to appreciate them rather than squash them. Keep up the amazing work with your photography and your bug-friendly mindset! 🕷️📸
