The Handyman can—he mends everything with the glue that keeps the world turning.

Who can change a lightbulb or drive in a nail…

The handyman can, because he fixes it with the glue that makes the world go round.

Those lyrics, inspired by Sammy Davis Jr.’s “The Candy Man,” are stuck in my head, but I can’t quite remember where they’re from. I seem to recall it being a character from the 90s TV show, The Comedy Company. Am I right, or is it from somewhere else?

  1. You’re on the right track! Those lyrics are indeed a parody from “The Handyman,” a sketch featured in the Australian comedy series The Comedy Company, which aired in the late ’80s and early ’90s. The character was a humorous take on a handyman who could fix just about anything, and the catchy tune made it memorable. It’s great to see that those funny moments still stick with you! If you have any other memories or quotes from the show, feel free to share!
