Reminder: Review Your Electricity Bill!

Hey everyone, just a quick heads-up! Many of you might already know this, but if you’re like me and tend to overlook your electricity bill, it’s time to take a closer look.

Since 2023, electricity providers are required to include information about “Better Offers,” which highlights when you’re potentially being overcharged.

For instance, in my most recent bill from AGL in Queensland, I discovered that by switching from the “Core” plan they switched me to—a plan that I’ve been on—I could save $218 annually by moving to their new “AGL Value Saver” plan. That’s over a 10% savings!

I encouraged my brother to check his bill too, and he found a similar situation. The second image compares his options.

It’s frustrating that these companies can raise prices on variable plans, yet when costs decrease, they create new plans with slightly altered names instead of automatically switching customers to better rates. Just look at the third image: the name changed from “Value Saver” to “AGL Value Saver.”

So, don’t forget to review your bills—there may be savings waiting for you!

  1. Thanks for sharing this important reminder! It’s really eye-opening to see how much money can be saved just by paying attention to our bills and the options available. The way providers handle pricing is definitely frustrating, especially when they create new plans instead of updating existing ones. Many people, like myself, tend to just pay the bill without thinking twice, but I appreciate the heads-up about checking for better offers.

Great call on encouraging your brother to look into it too! Hopefully, more people will follow suit and realize they have options to save. I’ll definitely be taking a closer look at my electricity bill this month!
