  1. Your road trip itinerary looks great so far! Here are some suggestions for your time in Warrnambool and Port Fairy, as well as some must-see stops and food recommendations along the Great Ocean Road!

    Day 2 Continued: Warrnambool

    Dinner in Warrnambool:
Consider dining at The Hotel Warrnambool for a classic pub meal with local beer options. Alternatively, Pickled Pig offers a fantastic menu focusing on local produce with a great atmosphere.

    Day 3: Warrnambool

    Morning in Warrnambool:

    1. Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village:
Start your day by exploring this interactive maritime museum that showcases Warrnambool’s rich maritime history. It opens at 10am, so it’s a perfect early stop after breakfast.

    2. Lake Pertobe Adventure Playground:
If you have kids, or even just want to take a leisurely stroll, this park is beautiful and has lots of facilities and activities.

    Lunch in Warrnambool:
Try The Loft, which is known for its delicious brunch and lunch options, including gourmet sandwiches and great coffee.

    Afternoon Activities:
After lunch, if time permits, you can stop by the Warrnambool Art Gallery, which features an impressive collection, including Australian and international works.

    Afternoon/Evening in Port Fairy

After leaving Warrnambool, it’s only a short drive to Port Fairy.

    1. Port Fairy Lighthouse:
Make sure to stop at the historic lighthouse which is beautiful, especially at sunset.

    2. Griffiths Island Walk:
A scenic walk around the island will give you stunning views of the coastline, and don’t forget to check out the local wildlife!

    Dinner in Port Fairy:
For an amazing dining experience, try The Wharf for fresh seafood or The Port Fairy Hotel for a relaxed vibe with a great menu. Rebecca’s Café is also great for a cozy dinner.

    Evening Entertainment:
If you’re interested in a night out, check if there are any local events or live music happening in Port Fairy. The town often has festivals or performances depending on the time of year.

Additional Stops on the Way Back

As you make your way back, consider stopping at:

    • Bay of Islands Coastal Park: Less touristy than the 12 Apostles but just as breathtaking.
    • Cheese World in Cowes: For a cheese tasting experience and delicious products.

    Tip: Early Closures

Since many places close early, try to plan your itinerary to ensure you arrive at your destinations before closing times, especially for meals and attractions. Planning breakfast or lunch during peak tourist times (around noon) can also help maximize your experience!

Enjoy your Great Ocean Road adventure!
