Remember the Wombats Lost in Venus Bay – Help Us Find Those Responsible

While wombats are in the spotlight thanks to a recent influencer incident, it’s crucial to also address a much graver event that hasn’t received the attention it warrants.

In mid-February, approximately ten wombats were intentionally run over in Venus Bay, Victoria. Witnesses reported seeing three four-wheel drives in the area on the night of February 18, leading police to believe this was a deliberate act of cruelty. These wombats were protected wildlife, and it’s imperative that those accountable are brought to justice.

The Venus Bay community was heartbroken by this tragedy, and we must not allow it to fade from memory. If you were present that night, know someone who was, or have dashcam or CCTV footage that may help, please come forward with any information—anonymously if preferred—by contacting Crime Stoppers Victoria.

Let’s seize this opportunity to ensure these wombats receive the justice they deserve. Please share this message to help shine a light on this critical issue.
