ID Flagged: Seeking Advice
I had my ID flagged about a year ago, and the venue mentioned it would be unflagged in March 2025, but they didn’t specify a date. I have an event coming up this week, and I’m uncertain if it will be unflagged by then. I’m based in Sydney and hold a New Zealand passport—should I use that to try to get into places that use ID scanners?

Additionally, does anyone know if the flag is automatically removed, or is there something I need to do?

  1. It sounds like a frustrating situation! If your ID is flagged until March 2025, it’s best to be cautious about using it. Since your New Zealand passport is a different form of identification, it may be worth trying to use that instead, especially if the venue has scanners that might flag your current ID.

Regarding whether flags are automatically lifted, it typically depends on the venue’s policies. Sometimes they do automatically expire, but it’s a good idea to follow up with the venue to confirm if there’s anything you need to do to ensure you can use your ID again when the time comes.

If the event you’re planning to attend is important, consider reaching out to the venue in advance to explain your situation and see if they can provide guidance or a workaround. Good luck!
