I’m going to Australia in just two weeks, and I need your advice!
My dad surprised me with an offer to take me to Australia, but I’m not sure where to go! While I don’t mind being close to a city, I’m really hoping to experience the great outdoors.
I’m looking for adventurous spots where I can hike to waterfalls, explore rainforests, see wildlife, go snorkeling, and maybe even try rafting. Fancy accommodations aren’t a priority for us; we just want to immerse ourselves in nature. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 😊
That sounds like an amazing opportunity! Australia is full of incredible nature and adventure. Here are some great areas to consider:
Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef: This is a fantastic hub for snorkeling and diving. You can take tours to the reef and explore stunning coral formations and marine life. Additionally, the nearby Daintree Rainforest offers excellent hiking trails and the chance to see unique wildlife.
Atherton Tablelands: Just a short drive from Cairns, this region is known for its beautiful waterfalls, such as Millaa Millaa Falls, and lush rainforests. There are plenty of hiking trails and opportunities to spot wildlife like cassowaries and tree kangaroos.
Blue Mountains: Located a couple of hours from Sydney, this area has incredible scenic views, great hiking trails, and waterfalls. You can hike to places like Wentworth Falls or explore the Three Sisters. This area also has opportunities for canyoning and other adventures.
Tasmania: If you’re up for a bit of a journey, Tasmania offers breathtaking landscapes and plenty of wilderness. You can hike in places like Freycinet National Park, see beautiful waterfalls, and get close to wildlife in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Kakadu National Park: If you’re adventurous and looking for a more remote experience, Kakadu is a UNESCO World Heritage site full of diversity. You can see ancient rock art, hike through stunning landscapes, and even try your hand at some guided rafting tours.
Make sure to check the travel requirements and weather conditions before you go. It’s also a good idea to book tours in advance to secure your spots, especially for activities like snorkeling or rafting. Enjoy your trip—Australia’s nature is truly breathtaking!
