Looking for the Fastest ISP!

Hi everyone! I’ve recently set up my home internet and am trying to figure out if what I have is optimal. I’m currently with Dodo, but I’ve been considering making the switch to Vodafone.

In my household, we have 2 PCs, 3 phones, and 2 laptops all connected to the internet. I’m based in South Australia and currently getting speeds of 100 Mbps. However, I’ve heard from several people that this may be too slow for gaming.

Do you think switching to Vodafone is a good idea? Appreciate any advice!

  1. Hey! It sounds like you’re looking to optimize your internet for gaming and other activities. A download speed of 100 Mbps is generally decent for most household use, including gaming, especially if you’re not streaming in ultra-high definition or downloading large files simultaneously on multiple devices. However, it can become crowded if everyone is using bandwidth-heavy applications at the same time.

Before switching to Vodafone, I’d recommend checking the following:

    1. Speed and Reliability: Look up Vodafone’s plans in your area. They might offer higher speeds, but it’s also essential to check the reliability of their service in your neighborhood, as some ISPs can have better performance than others depending on the location.

    2. Plan Options: Compare the plans offered by both Dodo and Vodafone. If Vodafone has a faster plan (like 250 Mbps or higher) that suits your budget, it might enhance your gaming experience.

    3. Gaming Needs: For gaming, latency (ping) is often more critical than raw speed. Make sure to check reviews regarding latency for both ISPs in your area. Sometimes a slightly slower connection with lower latency can be better for gaming.

    4. Contracts and Fees: Review any contracts, setup fees, and how long you’ll be locked into a plan before making a switch.

Ultimately, if Vodafone offers significantly better speeds and lower latency for a similar price, it might be worth considering the switch!
