Hello everyone!

I’ll be traveling along the east coast from early December until around January 10th. I’m considering whether to start in Cairns and finish in Sydney, as most people tend to do the opposite. I’ve heard that the weather in the north can get quite rainy in January, so I thought it might be wise to enjoy Cairns, the Whitsundays, and other spots in December to maximize my chances of sunny weather! 😂

If you have any recommendations or tips for my trip, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

  1. Hi there! Your plan to start in Cairns and head south sounds like a great idea, especially considering the weather. December is typically warm and sunny in the north, making it the perfect time to explore the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, and the Whitsundays before the rainy season really kicks in.

In Cairns, be sure to take a day trip to the reef for some snorkeling or diving – it’s breathtaking! The Daintree and Mossman Gorge are also must-visit spots for their stunning natural beauty. As you move south, the Whitsundays offer beautiful beaches and excellent sailing opportunities.

When you reach Sydney, there will be plenty to do as well, like visiting the Sydney Opera House, taking a walk along the Harbour Bridge, and exploring Bondi Beach. The city has a vibrant atmosphere during the summer, with plenty of events and outdoor activities.

Overall, your itinerary sounds well thought out for the best weather. Just be sure to keep an eye on the local weather updates as you travel, as it can be unpredictable. Enjoy your trip! 🌴☀️✈️
