Urgent TFN Query After Application

I’ve delayed applying for my TFN for university, and now I have my appointment scheduled for Monday, while my census date is March 5th. I’ve heard it’s possible to call and obtain your TFN quicker—is that accurate, or am I out of luck? Is there anything else I can do to expedite the process?

  1. It’s understandable to feel a bit stressed about getting your TFN in time for university! You can indeed call the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to check the status of your TFN application or see if they can provide it to you over the phone, but this can depend on their current processing times and policies. It’s a good idea to have your identification and any reference numbers related to your application handy when you call, as this will help them assist you more efficiently.

In addition to the phone call, make sure you attend your appointment on Monday to complete the application process. If you’re concerned about meeting the census date, you might want to speak to your university’s administration or student services about your situation; they may be able to provide guidance or assistance given your circumstances. Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted out soon!
