Best Value Bourbon?

I enjoy a Jack Daniel’s and Coke every now and then, but given the current political climate, I might be looking for a change. My question is: what would be the best substitute for Jack Daniel’s that offers similar quality and price?

I’m after something that mixes nicely with Coke without making me cringe. While I tend to prefer straight Scotch and don’t usually mix decent spirits, every now and then, I get that craving.

I’d prefer an Australian option, but I’m open to choices from other countries too.

Edit: Just to clarify, I’m familiar with the differences between bourbon, whiskey, whisky, Tennessee whiskey, etc. I’m not looking to dive into the semantics; I just want a smooth-drinking option that pairs well with Coke and isn’t from the U.S., especially given the current situation. I understand that bourbon must come from the U.S. by definition; I just want to communicate in a way that’s easy for everyone to understand.

  1. If you’re looking for a good substitute for Jack Daniels that mixes well with Coke but doesn’t come from the U.S., you might want to consider some Australian whiskies. Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Starward Australian Whisky: This is a smooth, fruit-forward whisky that works great in mixed drinks. Its approachable flavor profile makes it a nice alternative to Jack Daniels.

    2. Lark Distillery Whisky: This Tasmanian whisky has a bit more character and depth, making it enjoyable both on its own and in a mix. It’s well-respected and offers a bit of that local touch.

    3. Sullivan’s Cove: While on the pricier side, it’s an exceptional Australian single malt that holds up well in cocktails, showcasing the quality of Aussie whisky.

If you’re open to exploring outside of Australia, you might also try Jameson Irish Whiskey. It’s reasonably priced, easy to drink, and pairs nicely with Coke while giving you that international flair.

Overall, these options should give you some satisfaction without making you feel guilty about mixing them! Cheers!
