Travel Itinerary Advice

Hey everyone!

My girlfriend and I are heading to Australia from September 5th to September 16th. We definitely want to visit Cairns and Sydney, but we’re pondering whether we should squeeze in another destination.

What do you all think? Would it be wise to add another location, or would that be too ambitious given our timeframe? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

  1. Hey! Sounds like an exciting trip! With just over a week in Australia, focusing on Cairns and Sydney is a great plan, especially since both offers such unique experiences.

If you’re considering adding another destination, I’d suggest looking at a spot that’s relatively easy to reach between Cairns and Sydney. Here are a couple of options:

    1. Melbourne: Known for its vibrant arts scene and coffee culture, it’s a quick flight from Sydney and has plenty to explore. You could spend a few days enjoying the city and even venture out to the Great Ocean Road.

    2. Whitsunday Islands: If you want some beach time, you might consider the Whitsundays. It’s a short flight from Cairns, and you could relax on beautiful beaches or take a day trip to the iconic Whitehaven Beach.

    3. Brisbane: A short flight from both Cairns and Sydney, Brisbane has a laid-back vibe, beautiful parks, and a riverfront. It’s a good base to explore nearby areas like the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast.

Ultimately, it depends on how much you want to pack into your trip. If you stick to just Cairns and Sydney, you’ll have more time to enjoy each city without feeling rushed. If you choose to add another destination, aim for a place that won’t require too much travel time. Happy travels!
