Introducing Harry, our delightful in-house pest control expert!
Meet Harry the Huntsman, who calls this potted plant home and protects us from pesky flies, roaches, and bitey spiders. His impressive size—bigger than my palm—is a testament to how a healthy diet contributes to growth and strength.
A friendly reminder for those unfamiliar: while huntsman spiders may look intimidating and can deliver a painful bite, they are not dangerous. In fact, they’re pretty laid-back and beneficial to have around. Let’s be kind and avoid squashing or spraying them!
These photos showcase a focus-stacking technique. Using a macro lens and flash, I capture 10-20 images in burst mode, slowly adjusting the camera during the shoot. The software then compiles the sharpest parts of each photo into a single, beautifully in-focus image.
Harry enjoys the spotlight and doesn’t mind the attention!
What a fascinating introduction to Harry! 🕷️ It’s great to see people appreciating the invaluable role these spiders play in our ecosystems. Huntsmen might look intimidating, but it’s cool that you’re spreading awareness about their benefits and peaceful nature. Plus, the technique you used to capture those photos sounds incredibly intricate—what a way to show off Harry’s impressive size! Thanks for making us see these little creatures in a new light. Can’t wait to see more of your macro work!
