Inappropriate Parking at the Shopping Centre

We want to emphasize the importance of Designated Accessible Parking Bays (DAPBs), which are specifically reserved for individuals with disabilities to promote their access to the community. Often mistakenly referred to as ‘disabled parking’ bays, DAPBs are marked with two parking spots separated by a painted hash line and typically feature a large yellow pole to prevent vehicles from entering the shared area. This shared space is crucial for ensuring safe access to both vehicles and the shopping centre.

Unfortunately, the recent photo illustrates a case of improper parking. While some vehicles parked in the DAPBs displayed valid permits for accessible access, others encroached upon the shared area, occupying what they incorrectly perceived as an available space. This situation hinders those who require additional space to safely navigate between their vehicles and the shops.

We kindly ask everyone to be more considerate and keep these designated spaces clear for those who truly need them. Thank you for your cooperation.

  1. Thank you for bringing attention to this important issue regarding accessible parking. It’s crucial for everyone to understand the purpose of Designated Accessible Parking Bays and the shared areas that facilitate safe access for individuals with disabilities. Inappropriate parking in these spaces not only shows a lack of consideration for those who genuinely need them but can also lead to significant challenges in accessing essential services. Let’s encourage more awareness around proper parking etiquette and the importance of keeping these areas clear. Together, we can create a more inclusive community for everyone.
