Hey everyone! I’m in the market for a Ute and I’m hoping to get some advice. I’m specifically looking for a 4-door model with a bullbar. I’m considering either a Hilux or a Dmax, but I’m leaning more towards the Hilux. What should I be cautious about when it comes to reliability? Additionally, what year model do you think would be the best option?
This vehicle will serve as our family’s main mode of transport, and I also frequently move furniture since I live in a rural area.
Thanks so much for your input!
P.S. My budget is between $40,000 and $70,000.
Gday! Great choice on looking for a Ute, especially for family use and moving furniture. Both the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max are solid options, but they each have their strengths.
Toyota Hilux:
Things to Be Wary Of:
– Some earlier models had issues with the diesel particulate filter (DPF), but the newer ones have improved significantly.
– Depending on your area, consider the availability of parts and servicing, though Toyotas are generally well-supported across Australia.
Isuzu D-Max:
Things to Be Wary Of:
– While it’s getting better, some might find the interior less refined compared to the Hilux.
– The ride quality can be a bit stiffer, but this can also contribute to better handling with heavier loads.
Budget Consideration:
With a budget of $40,000 to $70,000, you should have plenty of options for both models. You could potentially get a late-model Hilux or a higher-spec D-Max fully decked out within that range.
Recommendations:
Ultimately, both are great options, but your personal preference and the specific needs of your family will guide your decision. Good luck with your search!
