Have you noticed how ridiculous McDonald’s pricing strategies have become?

I’ve seen fast food prices increase over time, but today’s experience felt particularly off. I asked to exchange a hash brown for a small fries at McDonald’s—same portion size, same general price, just a simple preference swap. But they informed me I would have to pay extra.

I understand businesses need to make a profit, but this felt like a blatant cash grab. There’s really no justification for charging more in this situation. It seems like another tactic to squeeze customers who don’t want to quibble over minor costs. To top it off, the employee didn’t seem thrilled about enforcing the policy.

It’s not just about the few extra cents; it’s the cumulative effect of all these small fees and restrictions, knowing that most people won’t push back.

Have any of you had a similar encounter? Do you think this is fair or just another example of corporate greed?

  1. I completely understand your frustration! It definitely feels like fast food chains are finding more ways to charge extra for things that should be simple swaps. It’s frustrating when you just want to customize your order without being penalized for it.

It seems like this tactic of adding small fees is becoming more common across many fast food places, and it’s hard not to see it as corporate greed. Most customers aren’t going to argue over a few cents, but when these little charges add up over time, it really starts to feel exploitative.

I’ve had similar experiences where just trying to get a meal the way I like it turned into a weird negotiation. It’s disappointing, especially when the staff don’t seem to be on board with the policy either.

I think a lot of us are feeling the pinch, and it would be great to see companies focus more on customer satisfaction rather than squeezing every last cent out of us.
